One of the key aspects of the Convection design is the emphasis on materials that complement the overall aesthetic. Recycled timber system cabinets, anti-formaldehyde paint, and LED lighting were extensively used to ensure both durability and eco-friendliness. Natural materials such as glass, metalwork, stone, and timber form the main body of the interior, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The planning and design of the Convection project prioritized the convenience and free lines of movement. The layout of the space was carefully crafted to ensure ease of navigation and a sense of openness. Enduring building materials that meet EU standards for dirt-resistance, scratch-resistance, and fire-resistance were chosen, guaranteeing a long-lasting and sustainable design.
The entrance of the Convection house serves as a public space, while the lacquered glass in the foyer extends the sense of space and seamlessly blends with the dining area. The central hallway divides the rectangular space into two parts, with the lounge room on the right side. Warm and cool palettes further differentiate the two spaces, creating a visually appealing and functional layout. The dining area is defined by a long table made from white Spanish Silestone, with the kitchen discreetly hidden behind a black wall.
With a total area of 114 square meters, the Convection design offers a free and uncluttered public space. The TV wall, faced with clouded marble, provides a striking contrast against the wall behind the sofa. The lounge room features unvarnished recycled timber, creating a serene and rustic atmosphere that invites relaxation and tranquility.
The Convection project was completed in September 2017 in Taichung City, Taiwan. The design team, consisting of Chi Ching Ko and Pi Chu Wei, overcame various challenges to create a space that is both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. Pale-colored timber was used in private spaces to create a peaceful oasis, while storage cabinets were cleverly incorporated into the master bedroom's back wall, adding variety and functionality. Attention to detail, such as the handle-less design of the storage cabinets, enhances safety and ensures a seamless living experience.
The Convection residential house design has been recognized for its excellence and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. This prestigious award acknowledges the outstanding and ingenious nature of the design, which incorporates best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Convection design not only enhances the quality of life but also contributes to a better and more sustainable world.
